Cultural Identity - Flag Art

We have started our flag masterpieces, which are part of our current inquiry Ko Aue, Ko Koe (I am you, you are me) - Understanding the similarities and differences between two or more cultures. The flags will be presented in the classroom and will recognise each students special identity.

Some of the flags include:
Rarotongan
Maori
New Zealand
French
Fijian
Indonesia
Philippines
English

Students put themselves in groups according to what flag they wanted to help with. It has been awesome seeing the diversity in groups and listening to the collaboration around the materials to use and what the different symbols on the flags represent.

  2. Kia ora Heather,
We finished painting the flags on Tuesday and we plan to display them on our classroom wall Friday. Student photos will be presented under
each flag to represent the different identities in our classroom.
