Science - Solubility

This weeks Science focus was solubility. Using different solids (salt, sugar, baking powder etc.) and liquids (water, milk, oil, vinegar etc) combined, we tested what dissolves in what.

Some of our observations: 

  • Salt dissolves slowly in water
  • Baking powder fizzes in vinegar before dissolving. 
  • Sugar does not dissolve in oil. 
  • Jelly crystals dissolve in water.

We predicted that by changing conditions such as temperature would affect the rate at which a solute dissolves.
